"description_short": "Woven from 100% mulberry silk twill and cut long and narrow at 90cm x 5cm, it knots neatly, stays put and slides over hair with less friction than cotton.",
"description": "The small problem this solves\n\nMost people have one bag they carry nearly every day. It is a good bag, it works, and after a year or two it also looks a bit flat. You do not want to replace it. You just want it to feel like yours again.\n\nA narrow silk scarf is the cheapest fix for that. Ninety centimetres of silk twill, five centimetres wide, tied around the handle. It takes thirty seconds, it costs a fraction of a new bag, and it changes the first thing anyone notices when they look at what you are carrying.\n\nThere is a practical side too. A hard leather handle or a thin metal chain digs into your hand after a while. A few wraps of silk give you something softer to hold. It also protects the handle itself, which is usually the first part of a bag to get shiny and worn.\n\nWhat the fabric actually is\n\nThis scarf is 100% mulberry silk in a twill weave. Both of those words matter.\n\nMulberry silk comes from silkworms fed on mulberry leaves. That diet produces long, even filaments, and long filaments make a smoother, stronger yarn than shorter broken ones. It is the reason mulberry silk has that particular soft hand and even sheen rather than a patchy, slubby surface.\n\nTwill is the weave. Instead of a plain over-under grid, the threads cross on a diagonal, which you can see as fine parallel lines if you hold the fabric to the light. Twill has slightly more body than a plain weave of the same fibre. For a scarf you intend to knot, that is the point. A floppy plain weave collapses into a sad little tangle. Twill holds a bow.\n\nIt also prints well, which is why the classic printed scarves you can picture in your head are almost always twill.\n\nWhy narrow beats square here\n\nA square scarf is a different tool. You fold it, roll it, and it becomes bulky at the knot. It is beautiful on a bag, but it takes practice and it adds visible volume.\n\nA slim 5cm ribbon does not need folding. You wrap, you tie, you are finished. On a bag handle it sits flat and close. In your hair it does not create a lump under a ponytail. Through belt loops it lies properly in the loop instead of straining it.\n\nThe 90cm length is the other half of the equation. It is long enough to wrap a standard handle three or four times with plenty left for a bow, or to go around a ponytail and still give you ribbon tails. Shorter ribbons run out of length and the bow ends up stubby.\n\nFive ways to wear it\n\nOn a bag handle. Start the wrap near the base of the handle, keep the tension even, and leave enough at the end for a bow. If you want the bow sitting at the top, start from the bottom. If you want a longer decorative tail, do fewer wraps.\n\nAs a hair ribbon. Wrap it around the base of a ponytail twice and tie a bow, or run it through a three-strand braid as you plait. Silk is smooth, so strands slide over it with less friction than cotton or a fabric-covered elastic.\n\nAs a slim belt. Thread it through the loops of jeans, chinos or a skirt and knot it at the front or on the hip. It is decoration, not structure, so do not expect it to hold heavy trousers up. On a shirt dress tied at the waist it looks relaxed and deliberate.\n\nAt the neck. Tied close, you get a ribbon choker. Tied a little looser with the ends hanging, it reads as a skinny necktie. In warm weather this is far more comfortable than a full square.\n\nOn luggage. Tied to a cabin bag handle, it makes your case easy to find on a carousel. Just know that luggage takes more knocks than a handbag, so the silk will wear faster there.\n\nMatching the colour\n\nDark blue is one of the easier shades to work with. It reads as navy in most light, which means it sits well next to tan leather, black leather, cream, grey and almost any shade of denim. If your everyday bag is a neutral, a deep blue ribbon gives you colour without shouting.\n\nWhere it gets harder is against another strong blue. A navy ribbon on a cobalt bag can look like a near miss rather than a pairing. If your bag is already blue, either go for a deliberate tonal stack of similar depth, or pick a contrast colour instead.\n\nCheck the product photos for the print detail. Printed twill often shows the pattern more softly on the reverse, and when a bow is tied both faces end up visible. That is normal and it is part of how a printed scarf looks in use.\n\nLooking after it\n\nSilk rewards a little care and punishes neglect quickly. Hand wash only, in cool water, with a detergent made for delicates. Swish it gently rather than scrubbing. Do not soak it for long stretches and never use bleach.\n\nTo dry, lay the scarf on a clean towel, roll the towel up and press to push the water out. Do not wring it, which twists and stresses the weave. Then dry it flat, out of direct sun and away from heaters.\n\nIf you want it crisp again, press on a low setting from the reverse while it is still a touch damp, or run a steamer past it from a short distance. Store it flat or loosely rolled. Leaving a knot tied for months sets a crease you will have to work out later.\n\nOne more thing worth knowing. A single drop of water on dry silk can leave a ring as it dries. The fix is to dampen the whole piece evenly, dry it flat and press. Rubbing the spot does more harm than good.\n\nWho it suits\n\nIt suits anyone who likes their things to look considered without much effort. If you carry the same bag most days, it is an easy refresh. If you wear your hair up, it replaces a plain elastic with something nicer to look at.\n\nIt also makes a straightforward gift, because there is no size to get wrong and a slim silk ribbon flatters most styles. Tied around the outside of a wrapped box, it doubles as the ribbon.\n\nIt is less suited to someone who wants a scarf for warmth, or who will not hand wash. If both of those describe you, a wider wool or cotton piece is the better buy.\n\nDelivery and getting it wrong\n\nOrders ship from Australian warehouses and generally land in 3 to 7 working days, with tracking once the parcel leaves. Returns are open for 14 days from delivery, on items that are unused and unwashed, so unwrap it, hold it against the bag, and decide before you tie it on.\n\nThe short version\n\nNinety centimetres by five, 100% mulberry silk, woven as twill, in dark blue. Long enough to wrap a handle and still tie a proper bow, narrow enough to double as a hair ribbon or a slim belt. Twill holds its shape where a plain weave goes limp. Hand wash in cool water, dry flat in the shade, store it uncreased, and it will keep looking right for years.",
"llm_summary": "A narrow dark blue scarf made from 100% mulberry silk in a twill weave, measuring 90cm by 5cm. The long, slim cut is intended for tying onto handbag handles, using as a hair ribbon around a ponytail, bun or braid, threading through belt loops as a slim belt, or knotting at the neck.
